Repeat Impressions - Designer's Choice Challenge "For the Guys"

This week's Repeat Impressions challenge is a Designer's Choice Challenge.  Today's challenge is brought to you courtesy of Karen.  Her choice is to make a card "For the Guys."  Check out the RI blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details on how you can have a chance to win a full sheet of unmounted rubber and to see what the other Rock Stars have created for the challenge.  Or, you can follow these links to their blogs:

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Harriet ~Joy ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Miriam ~ Robin

By making a card for this challenge and uploading and linking to the blog, you will be entered into a random drawing to win an unmounted sheet of stamps of your choice. Great prize!

For my card, I used last week's WHAT IF? Wednesday sketch.  Visit the RI blog here for the sketch and the details of that challenge. You still have nearly a week to submit your entry. I paper-pieced the chair and mounted it on a white circle colored with a Copic marker and hand-drawn dashed lines, then on a circle of the same paper as the chair, and then on a burgundy scalloped circle.  The trim piece is a stripe from the same paper as the chair.  I also used that paper for the bottom section.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions. This card was used as a birthday card for a friend who loves to read.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Happy Anniversary, Joanne and Mark!

An anniversary card for my friend, Joanne and her husband, Mark.  Their anniversary was yesterday.

The lilies of the valley and the border were stamped with a Just-Rite stamper.  I colored with Copics and cut with Nestabilities.  The matting is New Leaf from Papertrey Ink.  The sentiment is from Papertrey, also.  I embossed the background with a Swiss Dots folder.

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - Nubble Lighthouse

Today is Monday, and that means a new Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions. This week's stamp is called 1405-M, Nubble Light (sm) and can be found on this page. (Wendy has lots of lighthouse stamps, and they can all be found on that page.) Please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details on how to purchase this stamp for 50% off through next Sunday. You will also find all the cards made by the Rock Stars using this stamp on the blog. Or, you can follow these links:

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Joy ~ Karen ~ Michele

For my card, I went simple. What else is new! LOL! I stamped the image on white with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I thought I may color with Copics, but I changed my mind. I watercolored with Stampin' Up! inks and an aqua painter instead. I love the soft feel of watercolors. I added some sparkle to the water with a Spica glitter pen. (Wendy carries these, too.) The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions. My matting is black.

You have another day to participate in the Designer's Choice Challenge, found here. And another eight days to join us in the WHAT IF? Wednesday challenge, found here.  There are prizes up for grabs!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge - Part Two

I was going to use my BIGkick, and found these squares left on there from yesterday's card.  So, here is an almost identical card to that one:)  It was either this or nothing, and I went with sharing this one.  I actually like this one better, anyway.

So, here are the quick details.  The squares were cut with a Papertrey Ink die.  The flowers are stickers from Martha Stewart.  The lines were scored with my Scor-Pal.  The sentiment is from The Paper Company and is stamped in Eggplant Envy from Stampin' Up!  This also qualifies for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use stickers, but I don't think I'll even link it up.  (OK.  I decided to link this one up, as well. :) )

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

I stole about ten minutes yesterday and made this card.  I made it for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge, which this week is to use stickers or rub-ons.  You can find the challenge here.

I used a new die that I bought from my friend, Vicki, who had purchased two of them. It's from Papertrey Ink.  It cuts all three squares at one time.  I used a piece from my "card parts" pile - the purple background piece.  It was already embossed with a Quickutz embossing folder and also scored with my Scor-Pal.  You can't see either of those things very well in the photo.  (Edited to add:  If you click on the photo, you can at least see the embossing and scoring better.)  The flowers are from Martha Stewart and the sentiment, stamped with Eggplant Envy ink from Stampin' Up!, is from The Paper Company.

Stay tuned for part two of this card for tomorrow's post:)

A Change:)

No card to share today - too much going on!  Wish I had one.  Maybe today I can get in some stamping time.  (Actually, I stamped a little bit last night.  I made an anniversary card for a friend, but you won't see it here until Tuesday.  I hope it will be received by then.)

For some reason, I thought my blog needed a little change.  And I do mean little.  All I did was change the background.  But it looks a lot different.  It had been the same for a long time.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday, Eric!

Our son's birthday was Tuesday and we BOUGHT him a card! I thought it sounded like a good idea, but then I decided I had to make him a card, too. So, I designed this in my head during the day on Tuesday and as soon as Owen (our grandson) left for the day, I made the card. It turned out pretty much like I imagined it.

I did the background words on the computer on glossy cardstock. I brayered using three colors of Stampin' Up! blue. I matted with black. The letters were stamped in Baja Breeze using a Stampin' Up! alphabet. I punched them out using an EK Success punch. I punched the mats using a Martha Stewart punch. The letters are mounted on foam squares. Simple, but I'm glad he got a hand-made card again this year:)

Repeat Impressions - WHAT IF? Wednesday

This week's Repeat Impressions challenge is another WHAT IF? Wednesday sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch for this week:
We'd love to have you join in. All you have to do is make a card using this sketch, upload to your blog or on-line gallery, and link up the Repeat Impressions blog. Please visit the blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details and to see the other Rock Stars' creations. You can also follow these links to visit the design team's blogs:

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Harriet ~Joy ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Michele ~ Miriam ~ Robin
Up for grabs is a $25 gift certificate to Repeat Impressions. You have nearly two weeks to get your entry in. If you use Repeat Impressions stamps, you will be entered twice.

For my card, I used a butterfly from the newly released summer stamps. You can find the single butterfly on this page, or the whole unmounted sheet of rubber on this page. I stamped it on a piece of yellow glittery cardstock and cut it out. I also stamped it on a piece of white cardstock and cut out a circle using a Nestability. The matting for the circle is another Spellbinders dies and the same glittery yellow. (I bought the Spellbinders die from my friend, Vicki, who can get you most anything at a discounted price.) The bottom panel is green glittery.  I cut the tag using a Spellbinders tag die. The sentiment is also from Repeat Impressions.  I mounted the butterfly panel on Dimensionals.

Two More Card Parts Cards

Here are the other two cards I made last Friday at my friend's house, using "card parts."  For this first one, the card parts were: the embossed blue background, the stamped, embossed and cut-out butterfly, and the punched border piece. I added the scoring on the blue. The gold-embossed sentiment (from Papertrey Ink) was added after I got home.
For this second card, I used a stamped image from my Group Gathering in June. Not sure who makes it. The sentiment is a rub-on and the background is from a Die Cuts With a View matstack. Edited to add:  The little girl is from Stampin' Up!  Thanks, Vicki!

It was really fun to get to make some cards and enjoy time with friends. Unfortunately, we only do it once a year! I hope to have more stamping time coming up, but I'm not really sure it will happen soon.

The stamp of the week from Repeat Impressions for this week is Puffins, found on this page. For all the details on how to get this stamp for 50% off through Sunday, please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built.

Three of my Card Parts Cards

Today I'm sharing three of the cards I made on Friday while stamping with friends. Like I said earlier, it was very hard for me to figure out what to bring. I did bring a package of my "card parts," though, and that's mostly what I ended up using.  It made for quick cards and a tiny dent in my "card parts pile." :)

For this first one, the card parts were: the stitched panel, complete with the Nestability matting, the flower with the button on it, and the white stamped and scored strip.  I luckily had brought along a small box of Stampin' Up! scraps and found a piece to match the matting. I used it to mat the sentiment. The sentiment wasn't long enough to cover the whole length of the card, so I cut it in half. No one will ever know - unless you read my blog! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and I drew the stem and leaves with a marker.
Actually, this second card ended up with using no pre-made up card parts. I was working with another flower, but I set it aside for another time.  The flower and sentiment stamps are both from Papertrey Ink.
The parts for this card were the stamped and matted patterned piece and the stamped sentiment.  Again, luckily I had a piece of cardstock to match the sentiment for matting. The background is done with an SU! wheel and the sentiment is from SU! also.

I'll be back tomorrow with the last two cards I made.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

"enjoy today"

Sorry about my late post today.  We didn't get home last night until after 12:30 a.m. and I didn't even think about doing this post:(  But, I promised a new card for today, so here it is!

This is a digi image from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps called Milton's Good Book.  You can find it here. This is the image I chose when I was "In the Spotlight" for Sweet 'n Sassy last month and I finally got a chance to use it.  I colored it with Copics and cut around it.  The matting papers are from Papertrey and I used my Swiss Dots folder on the green.  The background paper is from Die Cuts With a View.  The sentiment is from Verve and was a gift with an order. It's mounted on Dimensionals, as is the image.  The ribbon is from Papertrey, also.

I had a great day yesterday with my friends, although we didn't get started on stamping/scrapbooking until about 1:00!  I arrived at 9:00 and started spreading my stuff out and getting orgainized, etc.  And visiting, of course:)  Then I realized I had forgotten acrylic blocks.  Oops!  So we made a trip to Michael's, which was about 15 minutes away.  Our other friend arrived about 11:15 and she had forgotten the pictures that she was going to scrapbook with, but she had pictures from a recent trip to Alaska, so we went back to Michael's to get her a new album so she could work with her new pictures, instead.  Of course, by that time it was lunch time, so we stopped at Wendy's to eat.  It was after 1:00 by the time we got back.  However, I did get five cards done using my limited supplies and card parts.  It was very fun.  Then another couple and our husbands came later and we had a nice dinner of grilled burgers and brats, etc. and more visiting.  A late, but awesome, day for sure!  I'll be sharing my cards when I can.  Today we have to get ready to celebrate our son's birthday.  His birthday is Tuesday, but they'll come over tomorrow.  Another great time.  I hope everyone has a great Saturday - or whatever day you happen to be reading this!

Edited to add: Thanks to Maki (Makiko Jones) for suggesting I submit this card for Sweet 'n Sassy's Back to School challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Happy (Belated) Anniversary, Kris and Ron

I took a few minutes and made an anniversary card for a friend from my Yahoo group.  Their anniversary was Wednesday.  Sorry your card was late, Kris:(

I used this year's Papertrey Ink Anniversary set, which was a gift from my friend, Harriet.  I inked up the flowers with a light purple ink and then "thumped" with a darker purple marker.  I inked up the sentiment with the same purple marker.  I embossed the entire piece with my Swiss Dots folder and matted with Kiwi Kiss cardstock from Stampin' Up!

I do have a card to share with you tomorrow, too.  And today will be a fun day for me.  I'm headed to a friend's house to do some stamping with her and another friend.  Took me a while to get packed up.  It's hard to figure out what to bring, since I can't bring my whole room!  If I get any cards done, I will surely share them.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Repeat Impressions - Designer's Choice Challenge

It's time for another Designer's Choice Challenge from Repeat Impressions. Today is Darsie's turn to choose, and she has chosen for us to do a scenic card in black and white and only one other color. Now THAT is a challenge!LOL! Please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details and to see what the other Rock Stars have come up with. You can also find their creations by following these links:
Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Harriet ~Joy ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Miriam ~ Robin
Then, create your card, upload it to your blog or on-line gallery, and link it up to the Repeat Impressions blog. One random winner for the month will win their choice of a full sheet of unmounted rubber - an awesome prize!

For my card, I used the stamp Bottoms Up, available on this page. I stamped it in black on white glossy cardstock and masked each duck. Then I brayered over it with Not Quite Navy, Buckaroo Blue and Bordering Blue. I matted with Buckaroo Blue and black. This was my first attempt at the challenge and I wasn't terribly pleased with it. However, I tried again with non-glossy paper and was even more unhappy. I wanted to try again with non-glossy paper but lighter colors, but I ran out of time. So, I decided this one was pretty good!

You also have almost a week to enter the WHAT IF? Wednesday challenge, found here.  The winner of that challenge will win a $25 gift certificate to Repeat Impressions.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Time for a new Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions.  The stamp for this week is 2707-I, Large Blueberry Cluster.   You can find it on this page.  Please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the necessary details to purchase this stamp for 50% off and to see the creations by the other RI Rock Stars.  Or you can visit their blogs here:

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Joy ~ Karen ~ Michele

My card is a very simple one - what else is new!  I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and used Goo Gone to blend them.  I used Not Quite Navy cardstock from Stampin' Up! for the matting, and Oval Nestabilities.  I embossed the background with my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions also.

For my card, I went with a simple Christmas card.  The snowflake and sentiment are both from last year's new Christmas stamps.  You can find them here, or the full sheet is available here at an awesome price.  (Check out the other full sheets, too.)  I used circle Nestabilities for the image panel and mounted it on Dimensionals.  The patterned paper is from a Dies Cuts With a View Winter matstack.

Remember, you still have almost a week to make your shaker card and enter it for a chance to win one of those full unmounted sheets of rubber.  Details can be found here.

Happy Day Shower Card

This is the extremely simple card I made for my niece's wedding shower.  I almost didn't post it because it's pretty identical to one I made last year.  Since I really had nothing else to share, though, here it is!

The flower stickers are ones I got from my friend Harriet last summer.  They are so pretty!  They're by Sandylion, but I don't think they are available any more.  I cut the circles with Nestabilites out of shimmery white and Pink Pirouette (from Stampin' Up!)  The sentiment is from a Papertrey Ink set.

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - Lady Slipper

It's Monday - and time for another new Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions!  Even though I'm a little short on time, I HAD to make a card with this week's stamp:)  The stamp for this week is Lady Slipper, and it's Minnesota's state flower.  I will admit, though, it's been a while since I've seen a picture of one and I did have to look it up to see how to color it!  For this week only - through Sunday - this stamp is available for 50% off.  Please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details and to see the other creations by the Rock Stars.  Or you can follow these links to the blogs:

Harriet ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Miriam ~ Robin

For my card, I stamped the flower three times (intentionally with the middle one higher, but I really should have made it even higher so that it didn't just look "crooked") and colored with Copic markers.  I matted with a soft pink.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions, of course:)

Just a reminder, you have until tomorrow to enter the WHAT IF? Wednesday sketch challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Repeat Impressions.  You can find the details here.  You also have another week to make a shaker card and enter it for a chance to win a full sheet of unmounted rubber.  Details for the Designer's Choice Challenge can be found here.  Good luck!

A Little Break

I thought I'd let you know that I'll be a bit preoccupied for a week or so.  Our daughter and her two kids are visiting us from Chicago.  They'll be here for a little over a week.  I hope to have some time for creating while they are here, but I'm not sure.  I will have my Repeat Impressions cards on Mondays and Wednesdays, but perhaps nothing more.  I made a card for a wedding shower I'm going to today, but I didn't even take a picture of it.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Several CAS Cards

Monday morning was an awesome morning!  My grandson decided to take a LONG nap and I took the opportunity to work in my stamping area.  I continued on with it somewhat Monday night.  I decided to put away some things that I didn't even remember that I had!  After my trip to Des Moines last year with my stamping group, I put my "newest" stuff in a plastic shoebox so that I would be sure and use it first.  Oops!  Kind of forgot about it.  So, I put away all my newest stamps that weren't in books yet, put away embellishments, etc., and went through the "card parts" that were in the box.  As I was going through some items, a few cards just made themselves. :)  I'm going to share them all now, and not make you see them one at a time.  If you have any questions about anything, just send me an email.  LJNeus@hotmail.com.

This last one is not my style at all, but I had made the flower at CHA in January, and hated to throw it away so I'm including it.

Three Weddings and an Anniversary:)

Sounds a little bit like a movie, doesn't it? LOL!  That's what I made a couple nights ago - four cards.
We are invited to three weddings in the next month.  Well, OK - five weeks, as you can see from the dates. :) I started out by making the last one pictured.  I asked my husband if he cared what card I made for his niece's son's upcoming wedding, because I thought I'd make another just like it.  He said he likes white, embossing and silver.  So, I made one of the above cards for that wedding, then made another one just like it for my niece's wedding.
I liked the first one, though, so I made another one almost like it for some friends for their anniversary, which is on Sunday.  Happy Anniversary Diane and Jon!

For the ones with color, I used a JustRite Stamper oval with the flowers and the border.  I colored with Copic markers.  (Since I've been asked a few times what colors I've used, I'll include that information.  I used: BV02, BV08, BV11, C1, V06, V15, V17, Y19, YG03, YG13 and YG17.)  I cut the ovals all with Nestabilities.  The background embossing was done with a Sizzix folder and the cake was done with a small Cuttlebug folder.  The ovals are all mounted on Dimensionals.

Repeat Impressions - Designers Choice Challenge: Shaker Card

Time for another Designer's Choice Challenge from Repeat Impressions!  Read all about it on the RI blog, The House That Stamps Built.  This week it's Dawn's turn to choose, and she has challenged us to make a shaker card.  (I got my directions from SplitCoastStampers, here.)  Make your shaker card, upload it, link it to the Repeat Impressions blog and you could be the random winner of a full sheet of unmounted rubber!  Check out the other designers' cards on the blog, or follow these links:

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Harriet ~Joy ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Miriam

For my card, I used the Little Lamb, two little bird stamps, and the sentiment - all from Repeat Impressions.  I used a glittery paper for the frame and embossed the background with a Sizzix embossing folder.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

August Calendar Page

A day late, here is my August calendar page.  If you are interested in making your own calendars, you can find my files at the top of my blog page, under the title.  Just follow the link.

The flipflops were stamped with a Northwoods stamp and colored with Stampin' Up! markers.  I matted with kraft.  The little flip flops are from a set from My Favorite Things.

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - Summer Frame

This week's Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions, available for 50% the regular price for this week only, is called Summer Frame and can be found on this page.  Check out the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all of the details and to see the other wonderful creations by the Rock Stars.  Or follow these links to the blogs of the design team members:

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Joy ~ Michele

For my card, I stamped the image on white and also on a tan.  I cut out the frame and glued it to the image after I colored the sea critters with Copic markers.  I colored the rest of the image with Copic markers, also, except for the bathing suit, which I cut out of some Die Cuts With a View cardstock.  The background (Kraft from Papertrey Ink) was stamped with one of the newest stamps from Repeat Impressions, Sandcastle, with Creamy Caramel ink from Stampin' Up!  The sentiment can be found on the same page as the Sandcastle.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!
